The Graz University of Technology takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. Detailed information on data processing within the use of DIGIVID is provided in the following Data Protection Agreement:
Purpose of data processing
The processing of your personal data when using DIGIVID is necessary in order to provide a comprehensive range of learning and teaching opportunities ("Distance Learning"). In addition, data processing is essential, especially from a technical point of view, in order to make the platform available and to guarantee smooth and trouble-free use of it.
Categories of persons and data:
DIGIVID is a learning platform for students, teachers (school & university), subsequently referred to as users. Data collected and processed: when using the platform following data are collected and used: user ID (automatically generated by the system), user name, email address, and role in the course (student, teacher (school), and teacher (university). Additionally answers to open, reflective questions and the IP address
Data processing for the purpose of fulfilling a contract to which the data subject is party takes place on the legal basis of § 6 (1) b GDPR (processing necessary for the performance of a contract or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract). If provision of personal data for such data processing is provided for by law and/or by contract, failure to provide this data may mean that TU Graz cannot meet the obligations towards the user.
Data necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller takes place on the legal basis of § 6 (1) e GDPR in conjunction with § 2, 3, 13 Universities Act 2002.
Uploading and/or using content and/or services freely (e.g. profile pictures) is considered as the data subject giving consent to the processing of his or her personal data in accordance with Article 6 (1) a GDPR.
Data will be stored for 5 years after the end of the project and then deleted.
Processing for scientific research purposes
Username and email address will be used EXCLUSIVELY for registration or for managing an account on the DIGIVID platform. All other information collected is anonymized/pseudonymized and treated confidentially. A subsequent identification of individual persons is therefore not possible. The information you provide will be evaluated and presented in project reports and publications together with the information of the other participants.
You have the rights to information and access, rectification, data portability, restriction, objection and erasure of data. Besides these, you also have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of data. However, bear in mind that withdrawal of consent does not affect the legality of the processing of your data retrospectively. Also, the exercise of these rights cannot override contractual or statutory obligations.
You also have a right to make a complaint to the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
The data controller is Graz University of Technology (hereinafter “TU Graz”).
